The Journal of Ottoman Studies (JOS), is a biannual publication of the Istanbul 29 Mayıs University. The Journal invites scholarly article submissions that are firmly grounded in original research, characterized by a meticulous and rigorous examination of archival holdings and diverse primary source materials, pertaining to the broad realm of Ottoman history. The JOS also accepts review articles of books, symposiums, and conferences.

Submissions undergo a rigorous review process by referees, with the final decision on publication resting with the editorial board. Articles can be submitted in Turkish, or English. Articles in Turkish, English, Arabic, French and German are all welcome. Articles should be typed in 12 punto Times/New Times Roman or a similar character, double-spaced with ample margins on all sides and according to the reference manual of the Journal. Research articles (the entire manuscript - including tables, footnotes, and bibliography) should not exceed 10,000 words; review articles 2,500 words, and book reviews should not exceed 1,500 words.

A brief abstract of 150 words in both Turkish and English along with (5-8) keywords should accompany all submitted articles.

Manuscipts that do not follow the foonote and bibliography guide of the Journal will not be evaluated. 

Language focused copy editing is the responsibility of the authors prior to submission.

During the application, the similarity (plagiarism) report for the article must be uploaded in pdf format. The similarity rate in the report should not exceed 10% excluding bibliography, footnotes and the quotations.
